Since I was a child, I was always very active. I grew up doing swimming, gymnastics, basketball and soccer. As I got into college, I was looking for a fun way to be active and came across the Circus Center in San Francisco, where I was able to do Static trapeze classes. Like so many others, I fell off track throughout my life with my exercise routines. I moved back to Palestine, and started to look for something AGAIN. There, I entered the gym world. I was introduced to weight training and found myself to really enjoy it especially the results! I grew a passion of helping other women who didn’t know where to start or felt intimidated and so went on to get my NASM Personal training certification. That was the start of my journey back in the USA where I came back to get more professional fitness experience. I worked in various fitness studios that focused on 30 minute intensive bootcamps, 1 hour circuit training classes and personal training.
With my time working as a trainer as well as my own personal fitness journey, I realized that the word “exercise” to many people can be quite daunting. Many either struggled to start because they didn’t know what that meant, OR many had an idea of exercise meaning it had to be in a gym setting and be a certain way.
Once I redefined the word “exercise” or “workout” for myself, I found myself to be less stressed when it came to fitness. I came to prefer the word movement, because in essence that is what we need to give our body. So whether it is in a gym setting, a circus setting, walking or running, dancing, jumping on a trampoline and whatever comes to mind, if it gets you moving, that is it! We never have to stick to one way of training and that’s the beauty of movement. Whatever our goals are, we can always change our routine up. Let’s move any way we know how!
